The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially opened the registration process for the Civil Services Preliminary Examination (CSE) 2025. Candidates interested in pursuing prestigious roles such as Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS) can apply starting today, January 22, 2025. The registration window will remain open until February 11, 2025, with the exam scheduled to take place on May 25, 2025. The official notification and application details are available on the UPSC website at upsc.gov.in.

As per the latest UPSC annual calendar, the CSE 2025 will consist of two objective-type papers. The first paper will focus on General Studies, while the second will test the candidates’ aptitude, including their ability to solve problems and interpret data. The examination is aimed at selecting candidates for a variety of prestigious positions within the Indian Government.
The UPSC is currently recruiting to fill around 979 vacancies for various services. This is a significant opportunity for candidates who aspire to serve in key administrative positions. Last year, the commission announced 1,056 vacancies for the CSE, in addition to 150 positions for the Indian Forest Service (IFoS). This year, a similar demand for highly qualified and skilled personnel is expected.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates wishing to apply for the UPSC CSE 2025 must meet the following criteria:
- Age Limit: The applicant’s age should be between 21 and 32 years as of August 1, 2025. This means candidates must have been born between August 2, 1993, and August 1, 2004.
